From: TM (Tue Jun 1 03:39:31 2004)
what happened here? anyone have any details?
From: Goibneu@AOL.com (Fri Jun 11 02:02:23 2004)
What Happened??? The Pilot ran out of
Airspeed, Altitude, and Ideas simultaneously.
From: TM (Tue Jun 22 15:50:07 2004)
sure doesnt look like he ran out of airspeed now does it...
if he ran out of airspeed it would be a hole in the ground, not spread out wreckage
From: Scout (Sat Jul 24 08:42:59 2004)
What happened what the engine ingested a bird and lost all power moments after the wheels left the ground. This accident happened in Korea, not shute which base, either Kunsan or Osan AFB
From: Grunt (Mon Jul 26 02:44:30 2004)
Ya know, a Falcon would look nice out there with the Sabre and Phantom...
From: Dave (Fri Jul 30 10:30:38 2004)
Looks to me like a giant bird shit!

Osan airbase, hence the OS on the "Harleys" tail
From: Hydra (Sun Sep 5 13:54:23 2004)
The pilot lost control , ejected and the plane bounced around , exploded spewing wreckage everywhere?

From: drew (Wed Oct 20 03:03:14 2004)
i dont remember osan having 16s
From: Kayla (Wed Dec 8 18:14:04 2004)
Now where has the power went Mommy?
From: Cobalt (Sun Dec 19 08:05:37 2004)
This happened in Japan, not Korea...

Pilot Bob decides his plane will be a nice addition to the static air display...
From: Jay in Korea (Fri Jan 21 20:59:29 2005)
That is Osan, F-16s fly often out of their. I am not sure of the gate you enter to see it, but it is not the Songtan gate. THe two display birds are still there.
From: A guy stationed there (Wed Feb 16 10:25:56 2005)
Happened at Osan, near back gate. F-16 with full armament ingested bird on takeoff, lost power. Pilot ejected safely, civilian woman in silver car suffered broken arm from flying debris. Road closed for two days to clean up unexploded ordnance, including AIM-9Ms.
From: Ted (Wed Jun 15 18:02:04 2005)
I don't think this was the static display anyone had in mind.
From: 747 (Tue Aug 9 13:48:33 2005)
Hurricane or a Tropical Storm my guess is.

The Viper was shot down by the Phantom --- it's HAUNTED!
From: Mac (Fri Mar 10 00:13:37 2006)
Actually yes, this is Korea, I'm stationed about 14 miles from where this happened (Osan AB). I drive right past this spot every time.
From: buzzboy (Tue Apr 11 16:39:50 2006)

Definatly Osan air base which flies F-16's and A-10's, this happens to be the Dolittle Gate. I drove by those static aircraft every morning on the way to work.
From: Woody (Mon Oct 29 22:41:12 2007)
I Spent eight years at Osan Air Base. Doolittle gate is at the bottom of pic, just out of frame on the left is Security Police/Forces supply. This was a bird strike, the USAF loses about 1 F-16 a year to mishaps.

I guess that last meal really packed a punch?

Work continues at Osan crash site

5/30/2003 - OSAN AIR BASE, South Korea 8 p.m. May 29.
A pilot from the 36th Fighter Squadron was taking off on a training mission in the F-16 when the crash occurred. The aircraft was carrying inert bombs and a captive training missile when it crashed.

F-86 is CPT Joseph C. McConnell's F-86F "Beauteous Butch II" replica.

I didn't know so many fucking morons existed until I read some of these posts!! God you guys are fucking sick and stupid. Most need your ass kicked.
From: Slavik (Tue Feb 26 12:40:44 2008)
What used to be an F-16. It was bird strike on take-off. It was early in 2003 at Osan Air Base. The pilot ejected safely. The jet almost killed an A-10 Pilot coming in the back gate; hence the car parked there.
From: Tom (Fri Jun 6 04:03:34 2008)
It could have taken that F4E out, I worked on that one in VietNam. Still a piece of junk. As for the F-16, damn good flying not to hit anything except the ground. B-1rd-1, airchine-0

The Phantom, jealous of his younger and more capable replacement, seeks revenge.
