Mojave. They may be for sale, there are a LOT of operations out of Mojave. Not just a spaceport...

Supposedly Rutan's Scaled Composites still has theres. Was used as a chase plane for Spaceship One.

These never were at Mojave...this picture is at MZJ-Marana Air Center (Pinal Air Park) near Tucson...ex-CIA training facility now "leased" by Evergreen International Airlines. This is only part of the fleet there awaiting their fate!

The insectoid mutants waited impatiently for orders. The Grand Insect did not disappoint.

I saw one flying out of Sedona in November, 2006; sometime between the 1st and the 5th. Couldn't get the tail number.

I have loved this plane for years and while I was doing some searching on it I came across this website. http://www.bobscherer.com/Pages/Starship.htm It tells about each starship and its current status. Thought you all might like to check it out.

Class action lawsuit killed this bird. I worked on most of these at one point or another. The only 2 left flying are in Tuscan.

There is one of these at John Wayne/Orange County airport. I hear/see him fly once in a while.

I've only seen on in real life - flying over my APT in Addison Texas around 1996/97. It was one of the best birds to watch flying. Too bad, its so state-of-the art, and I wondered why I never saw more of them. Its design and reviews were all top notch.

As pretty as it looked, the Starship was a PITA to fly.
It would not maintain a stable altitude/attitude at cruise and flew a fugoid path as though hunting for correct trim.
A major redesign may have helped, but it was already too heavy and too slow.

Starships like these fly into KLAS on a regular basis, at least several times a week. They're not grounded.

I see one of these that flies out of Love Field almost every day. You can tell what it is as soon as you hear it. It's propellors make quite a unique sound.

yes they did manage to destroy all of them except for two or three that remain in private hands. I know there is one registered in Europe but I forget which country has it, there is the one at Scaled Composites & has been using as a chase plane, and there is one here in Indianapolis that flies in and out of here locally frequently. They were killed because the manufacturer thought not enough of them were sold to cover the development cost so each one of them represents millions in lost revenue because of that andthe upkeep and warranty work were too expensive and it was cheaper to buy them out. One landed here on 3/24/15 most recently
