Doing flight performance tests. That's all. Every new plane design has to test its limits on roll out and maximum angle of attack at R2 (rotation speed to achieve flight)

At first glance I assumed this was a photoshoped image, Later on I have read it was an intentional test. What on earth would be left burning that visable on the runway?

Don't know what airbus uses but Boeing used a plank of wood fastened to the underside to perform the exact same test to its 777's

The test is actually one to compute "minimum unstick speed"...VMU: minimum unstick speed. check out google for more info

Intentional Test. Sparks from titanium pads mounted in the contact area. All airliners go through this as part of type certification flight testing.

Its a test tail strike. It is done on purpose to test the resistance of the fuselage and it also shows if the plane can take off being dragged and slowd down by the ground. Any new plane design goes through this phase...

Emphasis ZZ iz rite completly intentional..... itz a test to prove that the cargo hold waz built properly itz routine i do it all the time but it gets bumpy in the cockpit and all the alarms and warning lights go off, which is good

Hey Fred? Yeah, Bob? There's a law of Physics that says a tail heavy airplane over-rotated drags your mass. Remember that one in the future. Bob, kiss my mass!
